Delphine, The H Hotel, Dubai

Pre-Ramadan we went around Dubai for a lot of Iftar previews but none quite like this. This time we headed to an Iftar preview at The H Hotel and were shocked to find out the Iftar being served at Delphine – Restaurant & Bar. It was a media event with live music and a romantic atmosphere. Delphine is located at the lobby of The H Hotel, Sheikh Zyed Road, Dubai.

Before we or The H Hotel start getting lynched, we were at Delphine Restaurant & Bar only for tasting the food. The actual Iftar will take place on 4th Floor at a Ramadan Tent. The buffet is priced at AED 170/ person. I repeat…IFTAR WILL NOT BE SERVED AT THE BAR.

There was no alcohol being served at the Iftar preview. Just a few special Ramadan drinks like Rose and Tamarind juice.

Since we were here for tasting the food, it wasn’t a buffet. They were serving us the courses at the table. The Iftar buffet was Levantine and had dishes from Morocco, Syria, Lebanese, Egypt, Iran, Turkey and Emarat.

We began with the Starters. First the cold Mezzes were served and the table filled up with delicious Hummus, Moutabel, Fattoush, Tabuleh, Muhammara and Salads.

Next they served us the Hot Mezzes. The fatayers and spring rolls in different forms started flowing across the table. Meat, spinach and cheese were my favorites.

They also served a Lentil soup in beautiful bowls topped with croutons with a side of Lemon slice.

There were around 13 main course dishes and they wanted to make sure we try all of them. It was an impossible task, yet we tried our best.

Chicken Molokhiya, Mixed Grill and the Oozi trolley were our favorites. We were stuffed by the 5th or the 6th main course.

The local fish Sheynia served with a side of Harra sauce was excellent as well. The service was a little slow and took a lot of time to serve the main dishes.

The desserts range seemed endless. A trolley of goodness travelled around the room. From the traditional Arabic sweets to Creme Brulee and macroons. They had it all.

My personal favorite was the Date cheese cake. It was assembled on the biscuit base and delicately presented. It was heavenly.

The Spirit of Ramadan Iftar Buffet at The H Hotel should be worth a try. For now I can’t comment on how the tent and the ambiance would be but the food was excellent, so do expect high quality served!
