Thai cuisine is my favorite Southeast Asian cuisine. I’d pick it over Chinese or Japanese any day. I was very excited to finally try the Royal Thai Cuisine at Benjarong, located in Dusit Thani Dubai. Benjarong has a special menu for the month of September – ‘Cruising with Crustaceans’
The interiors are stunning and traditional. It’s a replica of the King’s Dining Hall with real gold leaves on the wooden pillars. At the end, there was a stage with a lady playing traditional music on a Khim.
For the drinks, we got a Royal Thai Fruit punch and a Thai coconut. The coconut is a must order. It was sweet and tender. The fruit punch was also really good!
Starters
We got some Prawn crackers served with roasted chili oil. A Benjarong platter with 5 different starters was perfect. We could sample all the delicious treats which came with the prettiest sauce dish.
From the crustacean menu, we got the Som Tum Pooma – a green papaya salad with blue crab. It was delicious but not as crunchy as raw papaya.
A Tom yum soup is a must order for me and Benjarong does a banging great job! You can adjust the spice level and we got 8/10. Loved it
Main Course
From the Chef specialty, we got a Seafood stirfry which had prawns, mussels, clams and other seafood with lemon grass and chili. A good choice for a true seafood lover!
Pineapple Rice or Khao Ob Sapparod was my first time trying it. It had chicken and shrimps along with carrots and raising. It was good on its own but even better with the curry.
From the Curry, we got a Red curry with Thai eggplant and chicken. It was extremely flavorful.
Desserts
One of the best desserts to try – Sticky rice with Mango! The rice was flavored with pandanus leaves, hence the green color.
Benjarong is undoubtedly one of the best authentic Thai restaurants in Dubai. The Royal Thai experience has my increased my cravings to try more dishes from the vast Thai cuisine. The service was excellent and loved the ambiance. Benjarong makes it on my recommendation list!
