Akiba Dori, Dubai

The latest Japanese restaurant in Dubai – Akiba Dori is named after an area in Tokyo called Akihabara. It is famous for its electric street and street food and Akiba Dori just brought the entire essence to Dubai Design District.

There’s an arcade at the entrance and paved floors laying out the street with Tokyopoliton ahead and an open bar plus a DJ booth. The interiors are a reflection of Akhibara. Was really fascinated with the ambiance.

We started off with some Crispy Shrimp Salad which had orange slices and mixed green leaves. Did not expect fried shrimp balls in the salad but it was decent. For the appetizers, I’d highly recommend Wagyu Gyozas which came with two dips. The Wagyu katsu sando was pretty filling and is better shared.

For the main course, I enjoyed the Seafood fried rice. It was perfect. The surprise was the Tokyo style Neapolitan pizza and we chose the Diavola. The dough was excellent and so was everything on top. The beef teriyaki was decent.

For the dessert, I had to try the Taiyaki with a filling of Halawa and Nutella. Definitely an Arab touch to it. The brownie wasn’t my favorite.

The service was great and our server gave us a lot of suggestion. Akiba Dori imports a lot of the ingredients from Japan including the dough for the Tokyopolitan pizza! Highly recommend the restaurant.
