Bringing the 70’s flare all the way from Bombay to Dubai! Moombai & Co is the latest dining hotspot in Dubai and it serves Indian Parsi cuisine. The ambiance is set perfectly right and give you the 70s feel. From the curved brick ceiling to the posters all around. The music is a big plus point if you’re familiar with the oldie goldie tunes.
We started with some Ice gola. Perfect for someone who loves sour and ice together.
We got Pineapple ras and an orange juice. The Ras had a touch of chat masala and was pretty decent.
Starters
For starters, we got a bhel puri which we enjoyed a lot. Usually not a fan of it but it had nice crunch and flavors to it. The Onion Bhaji was kind of dry and thick. The Pav Bhaji was perfect. Street style and came with standard 2 pavs.
The Kolmi were the fried prawns in curry leaves. It was marinated in ginger and garlic. Squeeze the lemon and the flavors pop!
Main Course
Although seekh kebab was in starters, we got them as mains along with Nalli Nihari and Chicken Berry Biryani. Kebabs are a must try – Very juicy and tender. Did not enjoy the Nihari and the presentation might put you off.
The berry biryani was excellent. I enjoyed the mixed berry touch and had never tried it before. We got a fantastic raita with it.
Desserts
Baked Gulab jamun in Rabdi is a must order. Mini jamuns soaked and baked in rabdi. I wouldn’t mind having the mini jamuns on its own too. Did not enjoy the Falooda, it was bland and the kulfi inside was rock hard til the end.
Overall, the service was good. Some hits and miss in the food but loved the ambiance! I witnessed a couple of birthday celebrations which was done in Mumbai style with a dholak and lots of banging. The staff is a bunch of energetics. Moombai and Co also have a Saturday Brunch which I wouldn’t mind checking out soon!
