Tong Thai, Dubai

We are so glad to have picked Tong Thai for a Birthday dinner! It turned out to be one of the best experiences. Located at Level 4 of JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, is huge in size. There’s a bar, plenty of lounge space and big dining area.

Interiors

If I had to describe the interiors of Tong Thai, it would take a full blogpost to do so. In short, it’s traditional and grand! By grand I really mean GRAND! The high ceilings were extremely high and the lighting set the ambiance to relaxation!

It takes about 90 seconds to walk from the entrance to the dining section and you will see a lot of artwork and lounge seating. It was fascinating to see how huge the restaurant is.

Our table was by the glass window and set with pretty lights spelling  H B D which was a kind gesture given that we didn’t mention over the booking but just tweeted about our celebration tonight!

Drinks

We got their mocktails – Pina Colada which came in a coconut shell and had all the goodness of coconut cream.  The other drink was a mix of lychee and strawberry which was refreshing.

Starters

We had to get the Tom Yum Kung and hands down it was the best one we have had! It was so very flavorful and had the perfect texture. Highly recommended!

We ordered the Tong Thai Sampler and it had 6 amazing starters on it. Papaya Salad, Spring rolls, Prawn cake, Chicken pandan, Beef Satay, and dumplings. It came with a side of 3 sauces. We couldn’t pick the favorite as we wiped the plate clean!

Main course

We got a dish from the grill – Nua Yang Jim Jaew. Thai marinated Wagyu Beef, coriander roots with a dried chili dip. The beef was very tender and chili dip was so good that we ordered extra.

The other dish was Phad Woon Sen Talay – Wok fried glass noodles with prawn, scallop, squid, egg, carrot, Thai celery, and soy sauce.

Desserts

They have a menu for both Traditional and contemporary desserts. We got 1 of each!

Mango sticky rice was just perfect. It had a lot of coconut cream on it as well. I wouldn’t share this!!

Song-Ka-Ya Nom Priew – Vanilla creme brulee with poached strawberries and side of yogurt sorbet! I can’t describe how good the creme brulee was, just take my word for it!

After those delicious desserts, the staff surprised us with a special chocolate mousse cake and a song. They also went a step ahead and the entire staff signed the birthday card which was a very sweet gesture.

The service was impeccable. Most of the staff and chefs are from Thailand. Our server, Joy gave us a 100% and was very helpful in selecting the dishes.

Tong Thai is a hidden gem and the best Thai restaurant we have tried so far. It opens only for dinner and is going on our recommendation list for anyone celebrating special occasions or just looking for some appetizing food and awe-inspiring ambiance!
