Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Milky Lotion SPF 15 – Normal to Combination Skin

Hello there! If you’ve been reading my blog for quite some time, then you’ll know that skincare is one of my favorite things. I get abnormally excited about new skincare products because I guess I just love having hydrated, glowing skin. It’s no secret that healthy skin is happy skin.

The more Clarins products I try, the more I realize that they understand the skin needs so very well, and I feel the launches they continue to add to their extensive range always really understand what women want from their skincare – intelligent, effective, easy to understand products which aren’t super complicated but work well to deliver results. The newest range is Hydra Essentiel – 5 hydrating products for all skin types aimed at “thirsty skin” {i.e. dehydrated} and anyone looking to boost radiance, glow as well as firmness and luminosity. I have been sent the Hydra-Essentiel moisturizing milky lotion with SPF 15 for review and I have been using it daily for almost a month now.

The Clarins Hydra-Essentiel collection has been created around the French beauty company’s discovery of a new dehydration factor linked to our modern lifestyle – the sudden changes in temperature we are exposed to on a daily basis. Whatever the weather, our comings and goings from indoors to outdoors expose us every day to changes in temperature and humidity. Clarins claims that during a normal day, we can be exposed to as many as 17 thermal shocks – and this takes a toll on our skin. Sudden changes in temperature and humidity affect the skin’s natural water retention systems so its natural hydration capacity is diminished, less water is retained – and the skin becomes dehydrated. Thermal shocks reduce the skin’s ability to create hyaluronic acid which is responsible for keeping skin hydrated at all levels. This manifests itself in discomfort and a dull appearance.

Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Milky Lotion SPF 15 keeps the skin nourished, moisturized and protected from sun-induced damage and environmental aggressors. The lotion is suitable for combination skin. It absorbs instantly and keeps the skin fresh and comfortable all day long. It also doubles as a moisturizing night treatment.

Clarins found the ideal plant to use to counter the dehydrating effects of thermal shocks: the Organic leaf of life.

The plant discovery: leaf of life, a fascinating example of self-hydration. In its native Madagascar, the plant manages to remain full of water despite being exposed to sudden changes in temperature. Organic leaf of life extract powers the skin’s natural hydration at all skin levels, by boosting the production of water-retaining “sponge molecules” such as hyaluronic acid. –CLARINS

Application:

It is recommended to apply this to the face and neck in the morning and/or at night. I apply it during the daytime, first thing in the morning, after washing my face with Clarins gentle foaming cleanser for combination skin.

Texture, Smell & Consistency:

It has a very light fluid texture that melts into your skin on application. It has a silky consistency, lighter than a cream but not as runny as a lotion. It is non-greasy with a gentle smell that isn’t overpowering and it doesn’t linger either.  The scent of the Hydra-Essentiel lotion is very fresh and clean. It smells very botanical like aromatherapy.

Results:

I really look forward to putting this lotion on everyday because it really helps my neck and face stay hydrated all day long. I love the fact that it is non-greasy and non-sticky. My skin feels plump and bouncy. It didn’t break me out at all.

It restored radiance and comfort to my skin, whatever the circumstances.  It doesn’t clog my pores and absorbs really nicely into the skin. It truly feels silky, soft and makes my skin look hydrated all day while protecting it from UV rays and pollution.

My Verdict:

My overall thoughts on the Clarins hydra-essentiel lotion is that it is a truly incredible product for combination skin. This lotion really helped with improving my skin’s moisture and radiance. I have been using it daily as a daytime moisturizer and also as a primer under my foundation that doesn’t have SPF.

I absolutely love using Clarins hydra-essentiel milky lotion and adore the benefits that it offers my skin. Thank you so much to Clarins for introducing me to such an effective product.  I highly recommend this product to all those who have combination skin that is sensitive, dehydrated and acne prone! I hope this review will help you. Thank you in advance for your comments and opinions!
