Chawlas is a very popular restaurant in Northern India and has over 100 outlets expanding rapidly all over the world! We are lucky to have one in Dubai as well. It is located in JLT and easy to find. Chawlas serve authentic Punjabi cuisine and do not use any artificial coloring in the food.
Interiors
It’s a cozy restaurant with simple and comfortable interiors. They also have outdoor seating.
Drinks
Since it’s a Punjabi restaurant, we had to order a Lassi and a chaas – The most popular drinks from the region.
Starters
We tried the vegetarian and non-vegetarian platter in order to sample everything. The paneer was simply the best as they use Malai paneer which would just melt in the mouth. The stuffed tandoori aloo was unique as it was stuffed with nuts. The tandoori mushroom tikka was juicy and tasty!
The non-vegetarian platter consisted of Tangdi kabab which was also stuffed with nuts and the best of the lot. The King fish was decent along with prawns and more chicken. Each one of them had a different flavor.
Mutton Burra Lamp chop was very well marinated and a treat for meat lovers.
Main course
Cream chicken is the signature dish of Chawla2. Rich and creamy, the recipe is a secret. We could taste a lot of spices and herbs in it. Best eaten with Romali roti.
The other dishes we got to try was Kadai Paneer, dal makhani and Bhindi kurkure. The dal was very flavorful as it had additional beans. All the dishes had a unique taste. We also loved the bread they serve.
Desserts
Although their Gulab jamuns are famous and traditional. The saffron kheer was outstanding. Not too sweet as I like it!
Chawlas2 should really expand over to other Emirates as their food is really good and authentic. We enjoyed everything that was served. Special thanks to Mr. Arvinder for hosting us personally. We’d definitely drop by if in the area!
