Dermalogica Active Moist Moisturizer

Hello, girls and guys. Can you believe that it’s March already? March is my most favorite month of the year, not just because it’s my birthday month but also because a lot of my life changing events happened during March. This year March is extra special because this month I have collaborated with BasharaCare- your online skincare solution to review some of the finest skincare products for you all.

BasharaCare.com is an online store that offers premium skincare, hair care, and cosmetics to women and men in the Middle East with free next day delivery all across U.A.E. So when I got an opportunity to collaborate with them yet again, I jumped on the bandwagon. Based on my skin type, I chose Dermalogica Active Moist to try out and review. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and thankfully I haven’t had any breakouts.

Product Description

“For normal to oily skin conditions. A lightweight, oil-free lotion that actively combats surface dehydration while smoothing the skin’s surface with botanical extracts. It provides effective skin hydration, without oils and smoothes skin, improving the texture. It absorbs quickly, leaving no greasy after-feel. Silk amino acids help smooth and improve skin texture while natural botanical astringents lemon, ivy, watercress and burdock help to refine the skin. Soothing extracts of lavender, mallow and cucumber help provide deep hydration.”

Application

I apply it generously over damp face and throat with light, upward strokes. Since it doesn’t have SPF so I use it in the evenings or when I’m at home. Otherwise, you can use it under a BB cream or foundation that contains SPF. Since the weather is undergoing a transition from Winters to Spring, so my skin needs more hydration than usual. So at the moment, I like to use this as a “helper” to my regular moisturizer – so I cleanse first, use a serum, followed by Active Moist, and finally my regular moisturizer. In summers when my skin feels a bit oily then I will use this as a moisturizer only but after a serum since my skin is always dehydrated.

Texture

It has a very light texture, more like a lotion than a cream. It is a non-greasy, oil-free formula. Although most of the moisturizers by Dermalogica are odorless like the Skin smoothing cream, but this one has a medicine like smell to it maybe because of the leaf extracts present in it. But the smell is mild and it goes away within five minutes of application. I love the tube packaging which is easy to use, hygienic and travel-friendly. The best thing about dermalogica products is that they are sealed. The shelf life is usually 12 months from the day you open it.

Benefits

  • Provides effective, oil-free hydration without a greasy feel.
  • Smooths and helps improve skin texture.
  • Sheer formula goes on quickly.

My Verdict

So far I have been using it for two weeks now and I didn’t have any skin issues. The good thing is that it doesn’t clog my pores. But if you have dry skin, then this isn’t the best moisturizer for you. Use dermalogica skin smoothing cream instead as it is medium weight whereas active moist is a lightweight formula. I love the fact that it is oil-free so it is ideal for oily to combination skin types. Best to use in summers. But if I were to choose one out of the two, then I will definitely pick the Skin smoothing cream instead as it is more hydrating and is just perfect for my dehydrated skin.
