The latest spot to open in City Walk 2 is Roux, offering a variety of cuisine. Roux is a home-grown brand which was put together in a short span of 3 months. I could not click pictures of the interiors as the restaurant was packed with people, in particular, the Emiratis.
Drinks
Dubaigirl got herself the Passionfruit juice and I stuck to my berries obsession. Both the drinks were icy and refreshing.
Starters
Buratta was laid on a bed of cherry tomatoes and rocket salad. I guess it had pesto sauce on top as well. It was average though and not bad at all!
Buffalo chicken Tenderloins crusted with coconut came with two dips. We hadn’t tried the coconut combo before but it was actually quite good! It’s a little on the spicy side.
The Prawn was pan-seared tiger prawns cooked with garlic, chili, paprika and served with fresh brown bread. The prawns were juicy, tender and very flavorful. The brown bread complimented the taste of the prawns.
The fries was probably the only dish which was not good! It was drowned in butter, garlic, and cheese but the problem is everything solidified very quickly and became hard to eat. Something you should avoid and Roux needs to improve!
Main course
I got myself Steak Frites with mushroom sauce. The Black Angus steak was cooked perfect and came with a side of two giant mushrooms which had some amazing flavors. The mushroom sauce was very thick and also came with potato wedges.
Crab Linguini was Dubaigirl’s choice of dish. She was expecting it to be in a creamy white saucy but it was buttery instead and the sauce wasn’t visible at all. Having said that, it was still very delectable.
Desserts
Chocolate Fudge cake didn’t taste as good as it looked. There was a raw taste to it and it was very dry. We didn’t enjoy it much.
Oatmeal cookie was excellent. Not sure if it’s baked in house but still a good treat.
Roux serves special tea and coffee as well. We tried the Red Fruit tea and it was fantastic and flavorful. Our server said it’s pretty popular in Ukraine. I would highly recommend this tea if you visit!
Roux takes pride in buying their ingredients fresh from the local farms. The service was pretty good given the restaurant was very busy. Do try their daily specials and recommended items!
