3Fils is a newly opened restaurant in Dubai serving modern Asian Cuisine with Japanese influence. It’s is a combination of Fine dining in a casual setting along with affordable pricing. We got to preview some of the items on their funky menu and we were in for a treat!
The interiors may be a little tight but very casual. The chefs counter overlooks the entire restaurant. You can even sit right at the counter and watch your food being prepared!
Drinks
Dubaigirl got herself a Deep Purple which was Cranberry juice, mint, and lime whereas I decided to be more experimental and ordered the 3Fils Concoction – It had Fig syrup, Peruvian olives, and Black current vinegar. It was just too different and in a good way!
Starter
Yellowtail Torched with sumac and ginger dressing. It had a very Fine dining presentation and was delicious.
Simple Salad of lettuce and seaweed with rice vinegar. It was indeed very simple and I thought the flavors were very Thai.
Sushi Rolls
Beetroot Sushi was the unique one. Suitable for vegetarians, it had pickled Beetroots, mango tartare and wasabi. Every bite was a delight.
The Dragon was very interesting. Two jumbo shrimps lay on a bed of sushi to look like the Dragon wings. There was shrimp tempura, flying fish roe and pickled onions.
Hot Plate
Chipotle chili fried shrimp with Sesame was the bomb. Since it’s located on Jumeirah Fishing Harbour, I assume everything is a fresh catch.
Indomie, yes Indomie is more or less like the one you cook at home in 2 minutes. I am not sure if anyone would like to pay Aed 30 for the extra topping of hotdog.
Happy Ending
The most exciting part of dinner. 3Fils has 3 desserts and we got to try all of them.
First up was The Toothfairy – Saffron Meringue, sweet violet sour curd, and Forest berries. Once you break the meringue and spoon all the ingredients together, it is outstanding!
African Power House – Ghana Dark Chocolate and Madagascan vanilla ice cream. It was indeed a powerhouse that was satisfaction in every bite and leaving you wanting more.
One of the most interesting desserts I’ve come across “Tomato who wants to be A Strawberry” has an actual tomato leaving a trail of strawberry syrup in a bowl of cream! The creativity is thought-provoking! You must visit 3Fils to hear the story behind the tomato who wants to be a strawberry!
We had also ordered some Finger food like Triple Cooked Chips and Chicken wings but it never showed up and no explanation was given!
I would recommend 3Fils to Foodies and people who enjoy experimenting. The prices are just right and the staff is friendly. Do ask them stories behind the dishes and they’d be glad to tell you. It’s not always open so see timings below!!
