Mitts & Trays, an elegant all-day dining café and restaurant focusing on the Oven to Table, Kitchen to Living Room experience, opened its doors at City Walk Phase 2 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in September.
Sparked by the love for baking and founded by the UAE’s first female Emirati Chef Patron, Amna Al Hashemi, Mitts & Trays is a truly homegrown brand from Dubai. The restaurant was buzzing and we had to wait to be seated inside.
Interiors
Mitts & Trays has indoor and outdoor seating. We prefer to sit inside as the interiors were way more comfortable, elegantly designed and a lit space. The outdoors open inside the mall so has a lot of passersby and can be noisy.
Drinks
I got myself a raspberry refresher which seemed way too sweet. Dubaigirl got herself Passionfruit with ginger ale which was better than the raspberry. The glasses were odd to drink from. I’d suggest a jar or the tall glasses for the drinks!
Starter
As a starter, Milk bread is served complimentary with basil butter. The bread was fluffy, baked fresh, and tasted great.
Baked Portabellos – Three giant mushrooms stuffed with lobster and cheese. It was instant love!
M&T Batata Bravas – Potatoes drizzled with hot demi glazed, cheese sauce and sour cream. Once you pop, you can’t stop! (Sorry Pringles)
Wagyu Sizzlers – Lava grilled wagyu lollipops rested on a bed of potato puree and drizzled with a sauce was the best thing we had all week! The Wagyu melts in your mouth and the mashed potato with the gravy was just too good! Its their signature item.
Salads
M&T Burrata – The side of Burrata was interesting. Served with fresh figs and the salad drizzled with pomegranate balsamic dressing. The burrata itself was average, we have had way better.
Kale & Walnut Salad – dried cranberries and feta cheese drizzled with fig balsamic dressing was fresh and probably the healthiest item on the menu.
Main course
Paella De Valencia – A seafood paella had the perfect flavors. Omani lobster, clams, and prawns all cooked in a saffron infused Spanish rice
Madras Curry Curry – Served with a bowl of basmati rice, poppadum, and pickle. The curry itself was mildly spicy and had boneless chicken.
From the Sandwiches – We got the M&T sliders. Southern style chicken sliders with chipotle mayo and crispy onion rings. It seemed a popular choice all around the buzzing restaurant.
They have a great selection of cakes which are baked in house. They not only look great but tastes exactly what a good cake should be like!
Desserts
I got myself a slice of WEED. Our humorous server said I shall fly after eating this so I had to try it! Unfortunately, I didn’t get any wings but it had a unique and great taste. It was probably weed!
The server also suggested a coffee which was brewed right in front of us on the table. The coffee was a blend of 3 mixtures and was utterly smooth!
Dubaigirl got herself a brownie which she claims to be the BEST BROWNIE ever eaten! She paired it with their hot chocolate and was in 7th heaven!
Our server was really helpful and did a good job with suggestions! Mitts & Trays has the potential to grow all over Dubai due to its unique dishes and taste! The wagyu sizzlers are a must try along with their cakes.
