Katana, Dubai

Katana is located on Downtown Promenade and also accessible from The Dubai Mall. A casual dining place that serves Japanese Cuisine and we got to try the Summer Sundowners which was only for AED 100 and included two cocktails and a lot of Japanese food!

The ambiance of Katana is a visual treat. Calm and dim lights also make it romantic and has a direct view of Burj Khalifa. The seats are very comfortable! There’s a separate bar area.

We ordered our first drink out of the two. Although you can choose alcoholic drinks in the Summer sundowners, we had the mocktails. I got myself the berry and Dubaigirl got the passion fruit and mango mix. I loved the berry drink which also had a lot of crushed ice.

The open kitchen is where we got to view our Robata being prepared. It’s grilled over hot coal.

We each got a skewer of Chicken, Salmon, and Corn. Each skewer comes with their own sauce. The Robata was our favorite and could feast on it the entire night! The flavors were excellent.

Next, we had a choice of 1 Sushi Roll and 2 choices of Nigiri.

Dubaigirl got the Dynamite Crab and I got the Ebi Jalapeno. I enjoyed the dynamite crab more and ended up gobbling her share of sushi rolls!

For the Nigiri, we had two choices each. We ordered Salmon, Tuna, and the Yellowtail. It was served on a bed of rice. We also had a bowl of Soya sauce to dip the fish in. The salmon was the best out of the three.

For the second drink, we both got the Smashed Avacado. It was thick, mixed with coconut cream. It was excellent!

Unfortunately, the Sundowner menu did not include any dessert but it’s still totally worth it for AED 100. Also noticeable is the service. The staff is extremely professional and always present to serve you. They also have Sheesha outdoors if you want to chill and admire the view of Burj Khalifa and the LED display!
