A few months back, Derma E invited all beauty bloggers on the launch of their Purifying range. We got to interact with their Skincare Specialist and ask them directly whatever we wanted to ask. It was such an enlightening experience. We were also given the Charcoal Mask, Daily Detox Scrub, and the Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen. All these products are enriched with Green Tea and Antioxidants, so we were also gifted a cute little jar of green tea leaves.

The thing I love about this natural skincare brand is that all of their products are 100% vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free. Also the fact that their products are formulated with Antioxidants is a bonus.

Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 charcoal mask:

This product has exfoliating properties due to the Apricot Seed Powder that’s why it is called 2 in 1, as it even serves as a scrub.

Product Claims:

Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask deeply detoxifies skin of harmful micropollutants in two ways:

(1) Natural clays infused with Kimarine® Wakame, Bladderwrack and Activated Charcoal lift out dirt, oil, and bacteria to decongest pores as the mask dries.

(2) Apricot Seed Powder exfoliates away dead skin cells and captured debris upon removal. Kaolin and Bentonite Clays absorb excess oils and impurities, relieving skin congestion.

Kimarine® Wakame is a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect skin against environmental pollutants (exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke, heavy metals).

Bladderwrack is an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment.

Activated Charcoal, known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, purges pores of deeply rooted toxins, then Apricot Seed Powder gently exfoliates away micropollutants.

Ideal for oily, active or urban skin types, even safe for reactive skin (minimal ingredients and allergy-tested), used this formula once or twice a week for skin that looks dramatic.

Packaging :

It comes in a 48 gms tube with a clip-on head. I feel that the tube is too small and wish that it should have been a bit bigger.

Application :

First of all, I cleanse my face nicely with Derma E cleansing gel. Then I generously apply the mask on my face by pressing the tube. I don’t know why some liquid also comes out of the tube along with the product,  despite shaking it well. Anyways, the mask dries off very quickly within 5 minutes, unlike other charcoal masks that take 7 to 10 minutes. It doesn’t  have any burning sensation while it is drying.

Smell & texture:

It doesn’t smell bad at all. In fact, it has a very mild yet pleasant smell.

The color of the mask isn’t completely black or dark grey like the other charcoal masks that I have used previously. It has a light grey color when it’s wet. The color lightens to white as it dries.

The texture of this mask is slightly grainy. The granules, which are the Apricot Seed Powder exfoliate the dead skin cells and purifies the skin from all the toxins.

The consistency of the mask isn’t too runny or too thick. It’s easy to spread on your face.

Results:

Honestly, my skin felt relaxed after using this. Just after one use, I could feel the difference. My pores felt free of dirt right after I washed my face. I also noticed that my enlarged pores looked visibly tightened and also felt clean after washing my face. So it does help purging all the deeply rooted toxins out of your pores.

My Verdict:

This is an excellent mask for acne prone/ sensitive skin like mine. I love the fact that it also lightly exfoliates. It is easy to apply and unlike some masks, it’s easy to wash off as well without creating any mess. I will give it full marks as it suits my skin.

It’s very rare that I don’t find any con in a beauty product but Derma E has an impeccable reputation worldwide for using the best quality ingredients and this product is one of their best.

Derma E Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen

It is important for us to absorb sunlight for our daily requirement of Vitamin D. Unfortunately Sun damage is the number one cause of skin aging. So in order to protect your skin,  you need to wear a nice sunscreen with highest SPF before stepping out in the sun. I have been using the Derma E Antioxidant Natural sunscreen with SPF 30 which is an oil-free formula for the past few months.

It comes in a 56 gms tube which makes it travel-friendly.

Application :

I usually apply this in the morning, after I apply my moisturizer because it is an oil-free formula with a matte finish so it tends to patch and wouldn’t blend well unless I apply a moisturizer first. I apply it even if I don’t step out in the sun because if you’re cooking then the heat from the stove can also harm your skin and cause pigmentation. Although it isn’t as damaging as the sunlight but still you need to apply a cream with an SPF formula.

Pros:

• Alcohol-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, oil-free and fragrance-free.
• Doesn’t break me out at all because it is mineral based.
• Doesn’t irritate my eyes.

Cons :

• It leaves a white cast on your skin when you apply it because of the higher quantity of zinc oxide but it also happens to be the best ingredient for sensitive skin and eyes. So apply a very light coat first to blend it easily.
• The name “Natural Sunscreen” is a bit misleading because zinc oxide is not natural. Although Zinc on its own is a natural mineral but Zinc oxide is manufactured. But it creates a brilliant ingredient to protect skin from UV damage.

My Verdict :

The best thing about this sunscreen is the fact that it is chemical-free and antioxidant-based with green tea and vitamin C. I have been going out in the sun quite often during the daytime this summer, but thanks to the Derma E Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen, I haven’t had any sunburn at all.

Usually, sunscreens feel very heavy on my skin and greasy too but as this is an oil-free formula so it feels light on my skin and doesn’t break me out. This is one of the best sunscreens that I can use under my foundation as a primer so that it’s long lasting. So if you have sensitive skin and are looking for a gentle sunscreen then this is the product for you.
