The Melting Pot, Dubai

Fondue was promoted as a Swiss national dish in the 1930s, and was popularized in North America in the 1960s. The Melting Pot is located at the Box Park in Jumeriah is a popular American Franchise that offers a mix of both Swiss and American.

The restaurant has a lot of booths and big in size. Make sure you sit in a booth to try more than one cooking style. The interior is mostly wooden.

Drinks

For the drinks, I got myself a Blackberry Sage Lemonade and DubaiGirl ordered herself a Pina Colada. The Blackberry Lemonade was good but had a lot of seeds in it. The Pina Colada was smooth and creamy.

Starters

For the Starters we got 2 types of Cheese – The Fiesta and The Spinach Artichoke

The fiesta was my favorite as it had Cheddar cheese mixed with Salsa and Jalapeno peppers where as DubaiGirl enjoyed the Spinach more.

Each dish comes with a plate of artisan bread and vegetables. Ours had some nachos and apples as well. Every item of the platter went well with the cheese…including the apple!

Salad

For the Salads, we got the Melting Pot house Salad and Arugula salad with pomegranate molasses. We both enjoyed Arugula far more than the house salad. The salads came with dressing on the side.

Main course

The main course was exciting. They got two huge pots and set them to heat up. One was filled with Oil and the other was Vegetable broth. The server informed us that we’d be cooking our own food which came as a surprise.

Our server Jerome was excellent – always on the assist and guide mode.

We got a plate of raw meat with a lot of variety on it.

  1. Shrimps
  2. Chicken
  3. Salmon
  4. Mushroom dumplings
  5. Sirloin

They also boiled some fresh veggies in the broth as a side.

We had the option to either batter it up and fry it in the 300 degrees Oil Pot or simmer it in the broth for a couple of minutes.

The tempura and the sesame batter both were exceptional and we experimented with everything including battering up a dumpling and then frying it! 😀 They offer a lot of sauces to go with the meat.

My suggestion and wish would be if they had built in timers on the table top as it was very hard to keep track of minutes and we would often end up overcooking or undercooking the meat.

Dessert

The desserts were sinful. We got two pots of chocolate which already was heaven and a platter full of goodies like marshmallows, cakes, and fruits.

The first pot was chocolate with nuts and the 2nd was the Ying Yang – Combination of dark chocolate and white chocolate. You can’t choose the better one and can’t stop til you clean that bowl!

For us, dining at The Melting pot was a fun experience. You can go there to chill with family and friends to try the communal pot and cook your food right at the table. Don’t forget the desserts. Recommended!
