Dermalogica skin smoothing cream
This is the second product from Dermalogica that I have used. I was given this by the ever so sweet team of dermalogica at a luncheon organised by them for bloggers.
Previously I had used Dermalogica Intensive moisture balance in winters and I loved it for its strong staying power and hydrating properties.
Description:
It is a medium-weight moisturizer to balance combination/dry skin. Deep-moisturizing Lecithin and Aloe Gel nourishes while extracts of Mallow, Cucumber, and Arnica soothe and hydrate.
Benefits:
1. Smooths fine lines and promotes elasticity.
2. Shields against dehydration and pollution.
3. Antioxidants help fight skin-aging free radicals.
Packaging :
This one is a 50 ml travel-friendly white tube with an easy to open head.
Smell & Texture:
Since it is formulated without artificial fragrances, colors or parabens, it is perfect for those who don’t like creams with overpowering smells like me.
The texture of this cream is smooth and doesn’t feel too heavy. The best thing that I like about this cream is that the minute you apply it on your face, it gives a very watery feel and quickly gets absorbed into your skin. It is not greasy at all.

Application :
After washing my face, I apply it over damp face and throat with light, upward strokes as advised on the dermalogica website.
My thoughts:
I’ve got combination skin bordering on dry and this is one moisturizer that really helps in hydrating my skin. It leaves my skin soft, smooth and with a dewy glow without making it look greasy.
I use it night and day and it always adapts to the needs of my skin. Although I started using it in summer but it is also good for winters.
The downside is that it has no SPF but I mix it with a tiny amount of sunscreen with SPF 30 or my makeup usually has SPF in it so I’m good to go. It is a bit too pricey like all other dermalogica products but totally worth it.

Dermalogica Charcoal rescue masque
I received this masque by the Team Dermalogica at the launch event of their Charcoal Range.
Charcoal is trending right now, and it’s easy to see why: over the years, researchers have learned that this humble wood by-product is in fact super beneficial for the air and your skin. Charcoal has a high factor of absorption. Basically, charcoal acts like a magnet to impurities, toxins, and dirt, drawing them to itself and thus, out of your skin.
What is it made up of?
The main ingredients in this mask are:
Water
Kaolin clay – a natural detoxifier that draws out impurities and dirt.
Bentonite – another natural clay that does the same thing as kaolin
Sea salt extract – a deep sea mud that has natural moisturizing properties
Sulfur – helps increase skin’s radiance by increasing cell turnover and has antibacterial properties

Other good stuff in this mask include lactic acid (a chemical exfoliant), niacinamide (anti-inflammatory and fights hyper-pigmentation), witch hazel (astringent), volcanic ash (exfoliant), bamboo stem extract (exfoliant), phytic acid (chemical exfoliant), tea tree oil (astringent) and Chilean wild mint (astringent). The star ingredient, charcoal powerfully absorbs impurities.
Packaging:
The Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque comes in a plain tube with a flip-top lid. It is easy to use and very travel-friendly sd well.
Smell and texture:
Charcoal rescue masque had a very strong toothpaste like minty smell but it faded out within a few minutes.
It initially looked very glossy on the application. But once it started drying up, it started mattifying on my face and the color also started fading out from black to grey. It felt a bit muddy and quite rich in texture. It felt a bit tingly while it dried out but it wasn’t uncomfortable.
This dual purpose masque serves as an exfoliant as well.

Application:
Use whenever skin needs rescuing. After cleansing, apply to clean skin avoiding the eye area and allow to absorb. After 7-10 minutes as you rinse it off, you can use your wet fingers to gently massage off the mask, giving yourself a nice physical exfoliation as well. Like all Dermalogica masks, the grains in this one are super-fine and don’t feel harsh at all.
Follow with your preferred Dermalogica moisturizer which in my case would be Dermalogica skin smoothing cream.
Results :
As the name suggests, this is a very effective mask that is fast-acting, easy to remove formula that rescues tired, lackluster or dull skin. Basically, it’s the ultimate mask for skin that is freaking out.
Instead of using an exfoliating mask and then a deep cleansing mask, this does both in one step.
When I say this is a powerful product, I mean it! After you rinse it off, you’ll instantly notice brighter, smoother skin. Now that’s instant relief for irritated skin.
It removes impurities from your skin and leaves your skin looking radiant and fresh.
After using the Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque once, I noticed that my skin was looking brighter straight away and it felt much smoother. Most of my breakouts cleared up a couple of days later and my skin evened out a bit and felt relaxed and deeply cleansed.
The Cons:
The stench of sulfur might be a turn off for some. It’s a bit too natural if you know what I mean, so don’t breathe too deeply while wearing it. The second thing I wasn’t a huge fan of with this mask is that it does leave your skin really dry, so you’ll want to deeply moisturize right after and I would only recommend using this once a week unless you have really oily skin.
My Verdict:
After using it a few times I’ve noticed that my skin has a bit more of a glow and my pores aren’t quite as noticeable.
I would give two thumbs up to this product. Another winner from Dermalogica! This mask is extremely deep-cleaning and noticeably tightened my pores.
