Fume, Downtown Dubai

The first thing that pops into your mind when you hear Fume is their most popular monster shakes that are on the verge of breaking the internet. So when I received the prestigious invite to try out their summer menu, I quickly hopped on the bandwagon.

The location itself is pretty impressive.  Since it is located in Downtown Boulevard, it has a neat view of Burj Khalifa. The interior is very unique! The furniture made out of recycled wood, the distinctive spot lights above the table and the 1930’s Coke refrigerator adds a different vibe to the restaurant.

Once settled in our seats, our starters came in.

Steak Tartar with slow-cooked organic egg and Garlic bread – I loved the crispy garlic bread however, I do not enjoy raw meat whereas Mr. A did like the dish.

Crispy duck and watermelon Salad – It had bits of Cashews and hoisin sauce. It might look and sound weird but the whole salad and the flavors come together. Both of us loved the salad. Recommended!

Smashed Potatoes with cream fraishe – Served in a skillet, the smashed potatoes were outstanding. The cream on top was even better. The server explained how it’s a lengthy process to make this dish.

For the drinks, I had the fresh watermelon juice while Mr. A had the strawberry mule – It was homemade ginger beer (non-alcoholic) with fresh citrus, coriander with raspberries. It was served in a giant mug and lasted the whole meal!

Maincourse

Pulled Beef in a Brisket Bun – The portion is huge and the meat filling is perfect. It comes with extra bbq sauce and vinegar slaw. I would prefer regular coleslaw with it.

Honey and chilli marinated Chicken – It was definitely inspired by Singaporean or Thai cuisine. The sauce was good and the chicken tender.

Smoked Norwegian salmon with teriyaki sauce and pickles was the best dish of them all. The salmon tasted excellent especially when you pour the teriyaki sauce over it. Highly recommended!!

Girls, 12 inches of pleasure – with a name like that, this dessert should be satisfactory. Nutella and mascarpone eclair – light and fluffy!

Date and Banana pudding with custard vanilla ice cream – It was one hell of a dessert. Truly enjoyed every bite. The ice cream scoop could be bigger as the combination of the cake and ice cream was an experience!

Fume doesn’t have a fixed cuisine. It’s just awesome food with a twist from all over the world. Since it’s located in downtown, it is also known as a neighbourhood eatery. It’s a good place to dine in with friends and family! Don’t forget to try the Smashed Potatoes, Salmon, and the Date and Banana pudding! I had a great experience.
