Erbil Iraqi, Dubai

Iraqi cuisine or Mesopotamian cuisine has a long history going back some 10,000 years – to the Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, and Ancient Persians and Arabs. Tablets found in ancient ruins in Iraq show recipes prepared in the temples during religious festivals – the first cookbooks in the world. Ancient Iraq, was home to a sophisticated and highly advanced civilization, in all fields of knowledge, including the culinary arts.

If you are looking for some authentic Iraqi cuisine in Dubai. You will find it at one of the branches of Erbil Iraqi Restaurant. The interiors are quite unique and traditional.

We ordered the special Erbil Cocktail which comes in layers of Avacado, strawberry, banana, and mango. I would recommend you try it. Fresh and fine!

For starters, They served us Lentil soup with Hot Iraqi bread. We also had a mixed plate of mezze like hummus, mutabbal, and tabouleh.

Iraqi Maskouf is the national dish of Iraq. The fish is smoked in a pit of charcoal and wood in the corner of the restaurant through the glass. We did not try it as it seemed a lot for two people.

The Erbil Kababs were good. They are grilled right in front of you. Pair it with hummus or Mutabbal to enjoy it best.

The Lamb chops were one of the best we tried. Grilled to perfection, juicy, and flavorful.

I have made several visits to Erbil Iraqi and the chicken Tikkas are my favorite. They have a unique flavor to it which you don’t find at other Arabic restaurants. The only complaint is they don’t serve garlic sauce which would be excellent with the tikkas!

The Arayes seemed to be fried as they were a lot crispier than the Lebanese ones. I would suggest you stick to the Iraqi dishes which are authentic and excellent.

We finished off our meal with the Special Iraqi tea and Baklava. The Iraqi tea is excellent for digestion. It has sugar on the bottom so still accordingly.

I would recommend Erbil Iraqi as it’s a go to place for lunch with my Arabic clients and friends. If you have not tried this 10,000-year-old cuisine yet…I hope you do soon!
