One of my favorite cuisines is Chinese. Apart from dining in, I do love the concept of take away Chinese or order at home food. I was very excited to receive an invite from Praxs!
Prax is located in Jumeirah 1 but the location is not really designed to dine in and neither does Dubai weather allow you to sit outside in summers. So we decided to get a take away!
Praxs does have a few seats inside where we tried the Dimsums as it looked way too tempting and could not wait till we reached home with the rest of the food. The chicken Siu Mai and Prawn Har Gow were both steamed in front of us and we enjoyed it till our other dishes were being cooked.
We reached home in an hour after battling the cruel traffic and jumped right on the food. The other starter was the Peking duck Spring rolls. It got a little soggy after a microwave run. But still they tasted yum.
The salad we got was Papaya Salad which comes as a recommended dish of Prax and it was worth it. With cherry tomatoes and peanuts, the salad was tangy and juicy.
For the Soups, we both got the Tom Yum Soup, chicken for Mr. A and Prawns for myself. They packed it really well with the cling on cover and there was no leaks! The savour of Tom Yum was on spot as you’d have one in Thailand.
For the mains, I ordered a Sweet and Sour Prawn. I replaced the Jasmin rice with the egg noodles. The sauce got dry til I reached home and I did not enjoy the sweet sauce. It was my bad since I should have chosen the Freestyle menu and chosen a spicy sauce instead. So make sure you tell them your preference and the staff is very helpful.
The Freestyle menu allows your to customize your Wok. The four steps involve:
- Choose the base (Noodle, rice etc)
- Choose Protein (Chicken/Beef/Prawn/Tofu)
- Choose Sauce (LOTS of choice)
- Choose toppings (Veggies / Garnish)
Mr. A got the Chilli Basil Beef which he described as “absolutely luscious – The sauce was perfect, the meat was tender and veggies crunchy.” (and he did not share with me) Mr. A finished the whole box in one go!
The desserts were scrumptious. I loved the date and caramel while Mr. A gorged on his Coconut and Ginger. The caramel had a lot of layers to it and it was more chocolaty than dates.
The coconut and ginger was great combination. The sweet cream on the bottom with some gingerbread on top was good! Highly recommending the desserts.
The only thing missing from the Chinese takeaway experience was the Fortune cookie. I hope Praxs adds one on! Praxs is expanding and opening a branch in Tecom or area recently renamed as Barsha Heights.
Verdict: Dine in not recommended. Food: HIGHLY Recommended. Do Try the dimsums, Salad, Tom yum soup and the Chilli Basil Noodles or just go Freestyle!
