We received an invite from #Zomato to attend a dinner at Dokuz Restaurant located at the prestigious Fairmont Hotel in Dubai. The restaurant is on the 9th floor by the swimming pool in open air. The ever changing lights of Fairmont gives a new look to the place every minute. The ambiance is something to look forward to other than the food.

Zomato set up a special table for our group and Chef Salih demonstrated how to make the traditional Adana Kebab from scratch. Its a speciality from the city of Adana in Turkey.

Here’s the recipe in case you plan to make it yourself
Adana Kebab
· Lamb leg and lamb ribs meat mixture with lamb tail fat and chili flakes.
· Bulgur pilaf (rice)
· Grilled vegetables (green chili and tomato)
· Red chili, tomato and garlic sauce

Our table was set and we were served Sherbet shots – Turkish rose aperitif. It was chilled and refreshing.

Chef Salih’s selection of Turkish mezzas
· Mercimek kofte: red lentil and fine burgul with herbs
· Cacik: strain yogurt with cucumber
· Patlican musakka: fried eggplant with tomato sauce
· Kumpir with sucuk: baked potato with sucuk and kashkaval cheese
· Hamsi (marinated anchovies) and marinated prawns
· Pastirma with Turkish cheese selection: Pastirma is cured beef.

All the mezzes were of the finest ingredients. Particularly enjoyed the Kumpir with Sucuk. The baked potatoes stuffed with cheese and sucuk were delicious. The Patlican Musakka was excellent when tried with the Turkish bread.

The Turkish bread was fresh and topped with Nigella (Fennel flower) and sesame seeds.

The grill was ready with red hot charcoal and the chefs grilled the meat, tomatoes and Chillies while we enjoyed the Turkish Mezzas and chatted on our table. The BBQ aroma in the air would make anyone hungry!

We were then served the giant Adana Kebab with Burgul pilaf,Onion salad and a spicy sauce on the side. The pilaf and everything on the dish complimented each other. The Chef only put in Chilli paste and salt to the kebab and yet it was very flavorful and juicy.

There was a man who was a vegetarian so the Chef whipped him up a Vegetarian dish made of eggplant, tomatoes and Kuskus.

My first Zomato meet up was fun and interesting. Got to see and meet many faces operating behind their social media pages. We ended our night with a surprise and an extra ordinary experience (Wait for my next post). A big thank you to Zomato and Fairmont Dubai for having us.
